2400m up in the Sky

Tuesday 14th October 2014
After 4 awesome days in Kelowna it was time to move onto to Canmore, 510kms through the Canadian Rockies.

The altitude rose and the temperate fell as we approached the Rockies.

This is what we woke up to! With snow already falling we couldn’t wait to see what Sulphur Mountain had in store for us.

First stop for the day was Nourish Bistro for lunch. This place is vegetarian/vegan/gluten free heaven!

Most people take the Banff Gondola for the views over the town, so due to the low cloud and poor visibility there were only a handful of people going up to the top of Sulphur Mountain. We were intrigued to see what was awaiting us…

And this was it! Snow, clearing skies and the top of the mountain to ourselves.

Andy was so excited to make a snowball. Couldn’t wipe the smile off his face.

The path to the lookout weaved its way through snow covered trees.

We love this photo. Looks like you are walking on the edge of a cliff.

The snowcapped tops of Sundance Peak.

The lookout provided some amazing views.

The clouds started to part and the sun come out. We were so lucky to experience this view uninterrupted and in complete silence.

Another favourite photo.

Andy can now say he has seen and played in snow! He is one happy chappy!
At the base of the chairlifts we soaked in the natural hot springs, which was a perfect way to defrost after our afternoon in the snow.
